Impartió el curso de bioquímica, biología molecular e inmunología a nivel licenciatura en la Facultad de Medicina UNAM de 1984 a 1995 así como oceanografía biológica a nivel licenciatura y ecología molecular a nivel posgrado en la Universidad de Auckland, Nueva Zelanda entre 1997 y 1999. Ha sido profesor de licenciatura y posgrado en varios cursos de biología molecular, fisiología animal, biología de campo, evolución, genética evolutiva y mastozoología marina en la Facultad de Ciencias UNAM desde 1985. Ha impartido varios cursos breves en la UNAM y otras universidades de México sobre biología marina, biología evolutiva y biología matemática.
He lectured the course on biochemistry, molecular biology and immunology for bachelor studies at the School of Medicine UNAM from 1984 to 1995 as well as biological oceanography for bachelor studies and molecular ecology for graduate studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, between 1997 and 1999. He has lectured several bachelor and graduate courses on molecular biology, animal physiology, field biology, evolution, evolutionary genetics and marine mammalogy at the School of Science, UNAM since 1985. He has lectured several short courses at UNAM and other Mexican universities on marine biology, evolutionary biology and mathematical biology.
