Principales líneas de investigación:

Edna Suárez-Díaz es Profesora Titular “C” , definitiva , PRIDE D, de la Facultad de Ciencias de la UNAM desde 1996, y miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (nivel 3). Bióloga de la Facultad de Ciencias, UNAM (1989) y cursó la maestría (1992) y doctorado (1996) en Ciencias en la misma facultad, con especialidad en historia y filosofía de la biología.

Entre 2005 y 2008 fue Research Fellow en el Max Planck Institute for the History of Science en Berlín, Alemania, y ha realizado estancias académicas en la Universidad de Harvard (1994, 1995), la Universidad de California Irvine (1993, 1994), el Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2009, 2013, 2023) ha sido profesora invitada en la Universidad Estatal de Oregon (2018), y la Universidad del Rühr en Bochum, Alemania (2017).

Se ha especializado en la historia y la epistemología histórica de las ciencias de la vida en la segunda mitad del siglo veinte, y ha contribuido a la historia y la epistemología histórica de la introducción de técnicas moleculares y computadoras en los estudios evolutivos. Actualmente s co-responsable de un proyecto Conahcyt Ciencia de Frontera (no. 53351), “Itinerarios del desarrollo en México” y de un proyecto PAPIIT IN401724; así como de un proyecto global de la Wellcome Trust Collaborative Award 2020, “Connecting three worlds: socialism, medicine and global health after WWII”. Es co-Editor in Chief (con Adrian Currie), History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences. Journal editado por Springer-Verlag. Hoy en día el journal con mayor factor de impacto en mi campo, de enero de 2024 a diciembre de 2029.

Research interests:

Edna Suárez-Díaz is Full Professor “C”, definitive, PRIDE D, of the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM since 1996, and member of the National System of Researchers (level 3). Biologist from the Faculty of Sciences, UNAM (1989) and completed a master’s degree (1992) and doctorate (1996) in Sciences at the same faculty, with a specialty in history and philosophy of biology.

Between 2005 and 2008 he was a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, Germany, and has carried out academic stays at the University of Harvard (1994, 1995), University of California Irvine (1993, 1994), Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2009, 2013, 2023) has been a visiting professor at the Oregon State University (2018), and Rühr University in Bochum, Germany (2017).

She has specialized in the history and historical epistemology of the life sciences in the second half of the 20th-century, and has contributed to history and historical epistemology of the introduction of molecular techniques and computers in evolutionary studies.
